The Rio Grande, known as the Rio Bravo del Norte in Mexico, is a principal river in North America that forms part of the United States -Mexico border. It is one of the longest rivers of North America, flowing 1,900 miles (3,060 km) from its sources in the Rocky Mountains of southwestern Colorado.

U.S.-Mexico Border

The Rio Grande forms the border between the U.S. state of Texas and four Mexican states: Chihuahua, Coahuila, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas. The river has played a significant role in the history and culture of both countries, serving as a source of water, irrigation, and transportation.
